Members of rail unions RMT and TSSA protested outside Network Rail headquarters in London on March 12, 2010 over plans to slash 1500 safety-critical maintenance jobs. Both unions have voted overwhelmingly for strike action , warning that the proposals will inevitably lead to death and injury on the rail network.
