Gold. The very name of gold excites people just like you.

Did you know though, that everyday individuals, just like you and me can buy pure gold bars, gold nuggets, even gold bullion, gold ingots, 999.9 gold and 1oz gold bars very quickly and easily over the internet and online from highly reputable and totally trustworthy sources?

Would it surprise you even more if I told you that some of the best deals that you can get online for buying pure gold bars, can be found on your old favorite marketplace of all time in our modern age - Ebay? Astonishing isn't it?

The answer though is Yes You Can!

Someone, just like you can buy pure gold bars and find them for sale, right now on eBay. And with eBay's Positive Feedback Trader Rating system, there really is no reason for you to be afraid of buying from upon this marketplace.

Invest in gold for your own future and the future of your family today! Here we provide you with the: Top 3 Reasons To Buy Gold ... pure gold bars, gold nuggets, gold bullion and gold ingots for investment purposes or just for the joy of owning this most valuable commodity known to man.

Gold is an independent asset, it moves quite independently from the economic cycle. It's really not too hard to understand this since one must consider the sheer diversity of it's supply and demand base, this is afterall, the penultimate determining factor of price movements in the market place.

Commodities tend to typically fall during economic recessions, since the raw materials used in the production of non essential goods and services declines. However, the demand for gold, in comparison to other commodities is actually quite small. In 2007 just 14% of gold demand came from the industrial sector which was mostly, electronics. This is in great contrast to base metals and even other precious metals where the greater demand comes from industry. The upside of this is that gold is not so susceptible to the vagaries of the general economic market conditions. With that being said however, the demand for gold in electronics is likely to fall if the overall economy does in fact fall into a full blown recession. as consumer spending on electronics naturally falls with it.

Recession in the US would without a doubt have some negative implications for the gold jewelry demand in North America, as consumer spending slowed down. All is not lost however, far from it as regards gold investing is concerned since this would at least be offset by the increased share of gold jwelery within the rail sector. Added to this point, gold is actually much less vulnerable than other jewelry materials, such as diamonds or platinum to a US recession as far greater demand for gold comes from outside of North America - 70% of diamond jewelery demand comes from the US, compare this with just 10% for gold.

The final source of demand that comes from investors themselves, people like you and me. Investors buy gold for a huge number of reasons. One of the chief reasons amongst these are gold's inflation and dollar hedging properties, both of which factors have been proven for a very long period of time. How a recession affects investment demand would depend, in part, on how inflation and the dollar react.

The upcoming and brewing recession has so far been rather positive for gold on both fronts. The dollar has continued it's downward slide, while inflation has unusually enough, headed higher. U.S. consumer prices increased at an annual rate of 4% in February this year, up from 2.4% just a year earlier. If trends continue as they are, investment demand for gold as an inflation and dollar hedge is very likely to remain strong. And if the recession does deepen it's affects amid concern over the health of the U.S. backing sector, the demand for gold as a safe haven asset is also likely to remain most robust.

What does this mean for you? Gold is right now, one of the most solid investments that you could consider making, is the message in a nutshell.

If we look at the supply side, there are three main sources, 1/ Mine production. 2/ Official sector sales and 3/ Scrap or recycled gold. Mine production by far is the biggest element from these three. This accounts for a full 70% of total supply in the last year. This upward trend in mine supply of gold production that was by way of example underway in the 1980's was not stopped by the 1990 recession. The U.S. economy suffered an outright contraction, while world GDP growth slowed to 1.6% from 2.9% the previous year. Nor was the downtrend in mining output that began in 2001 reversed by the sharp acceleration in world growth that followed.

Mine production of gold is influenced by very specific factors, for example the level of exploration spending, the success or otherwise in the discovery of new gold deposits and the actual cost of extraction and processing, which actually means that some new deposits are not worth their weight in gold, extracting from source. The lead times in gold mining are often fairly extracted and prolonged affairs, it can take years to re-open a formerly dis-used closed mine, let alone further expenses incurred from finding and mining new gold reserves.

Another factor is the Central Bank themselves and their strategic decisions to buy or to sell gold, decisions which tend not to be reactive to the economic cycle. These decisions by this body are usually made several years in advance and are then carried out over a timespan of years according to their own plans, for strategic purposes. In the country of Switzerland for example, the proposition to sell gold, or the first gold sales program, was first recommended by a group of experts in 1997. However, the actual sales program did not even begin to commence proceedings until the May of 2000, with the sales then taking place over a period of 5 years, such was the confidence in this commodity to deliver it's long term gains and profits for them. If this is good enough decision making on a strategic basis for them, this tells you that the long term investment for gold bodes well for you also.

Gold scrap supply is influenced by many factors, the most important of these perhaps being price and price volatility, however recessions and periods of economic distress have also had an impact. To demonstrate, one of the most dramatic examples was when Korea was pushed into recession during the 1998 Asian currency crisis, it's scrap supply increased by almost 200 tonnes as the government then bought gold from the local populace in exchange for won denominated bonds. It then went on to sell the gold upon the international market in order to raise enough dollars currency to avoid defaulting on it's external debt.

In summary, a U.S. recession does not have any negative implications for the gold price thanks to the unique drivers of gold demand and supply. The only element of gold demand that could be affected by a recession is investment demand, but that in turn will also depend to a large part on the actual 'type' of recession. So far, the brewing recession has been positive for gold investment purposes as it has been accompanied by a rise in inflation and a falling dollar, which has boosted the demand for gold as a dollar and inflation hedge.

How Far Will Skateboarders Go to Get a World Record?

Because skateboarding is a relatively new sport, the range of possible tricks is still expanding each and every year. With large competitions like the X Games, there's a good chance that at least one record will be broken during the event. Many of these world records can be seen in videos online and elsewhere thanks to the public nature of these events.

The world of skateboarding is full of pro skateboarders who are driven to push the bar with their tricks. Pro skateboarders are constantly working to improve their performance, shooting for more complicated tricks, bigger air, and more flips. Here are a few of the most well-known skateboarding records to date:

Longest skateboard. Although the lengths of the standard skateboard and the longboard are fairly standardized by now, there are some variations. For example, in 2005 three boys created and rode the world's longest skateboard. Over 30 feet in length, it required all three riders at once to control the full length.

Distance. Many people use skateboards as their primary mode of transportation, riding several miles every week, although there are others who have made a name for themselves based on how far they have ridden. In 2008, Ted McDonald rode barefoot for 242 miles in 24 hours. Rob Thomson is another skateboarder known for distance. He skateboarded approximately 7,500 miles over two and a half years.

Speed. The fastest speed that can be attained on a skateboard has been measured at 63 miles per hour, set by Gary Hardwick back in 1998. However, there are multiple reports of faster, unmeasured speeds, of up to 80 miles per hour.

Spins. Spins are incorporated into many skateboarding tricks. In 2000 Richie Carasco broke the record for consecutive 360 degree spins, with 142. Tony Hawk is known for many records, including the first 900 degree spin, or two and a half complete rotations without landing, a feat that was first seen at the 1999 X Games. The elusive 900 degree spin is the goal of many pro skateboarders, as is the 1080 spin, which has not yet been attained.

Jumps. High jumps and jumps over long distances are something practiced by most professional skateboarders. In 2005, Danny Way became the first person to jump over the Great Wall of China on a skateboard. He is also know for many other skateboarding world records, such as the greatest distance jump (79 feet). Danny Way also invented the Mega Ramp used to set both of these records; this structure is likely the largest skate ramp every built. Danny Way's other records include height out of a skateboard ramp (23.5 feet).

Ollies. The Ollie, in which the skateboarder flips the skateboard under them while in the middle of a jump, is arguably the most popular skateboarding trick. Although the record for the highest Ollie is officially 44.5 inches, set by Danny Wainwright, there are many claims of higher Ollies, up to 50 inches. In 2007, Rob Dyrdek completed the most Ollies in a row, with 215. In fact, Rob Dyrdek holds over 20 world skateboarding records, such as the longest rail grind (100 feet), and the highest jump into water with a ramp, at 10 feet and 8 inches.

Underwater Welding

Underwater welding techniques are most commonly used in executing marine engineering projects such as installation of oil and gas rigs. Underwater welding is mostly related to welding work pieces made from different types of metals such as steel, aluminum, copper, and others.

Underwater welding can be classified according to the type of equipment used and the type of processes followed. The most common underwater welding process is known as manual metal arc welding (MMA) which has the advantage of being relatively insensitive to depth. This makes it the most suited technique for undertaking deep-water repair activities.

Cofferdam welding involves the use of a rigid structure to house the welders, which is sealed against the side of the structure to be welded. Another type of underwater welding technique is commonly known as Hyperbaric welding in which an enclosure is sealed around the structure to be welded, and is filled with a gas (commonly helium containing 0.5 bar of oxygen) at the prevailing pressure. This welding technique is often combined with MMA (SMA), TIG (GTA), or FCAW for effecting high integrity welds, particularly for deep-water welds, including tie-ins in pipelines and risers in the oil and gas industries.

Underwater welding techniques are used for welding steel pipelines, other offshore structures, submerged parts of large ships, and underwater structures supporting a harbor. Welding in depths of 500 to 1000 meters generates high weld metal diffusible hydrogen, which can increase the risk of hydrogen-assisted cracking. This can be prevented with the use of electrode coating formulations and improved power source technology.

Underwater welding techniques can be dangerous if proper procedures and equipment is not used. An underwater welder faces the potential risk from electric shocks and from nitrogen introduced into the bloodstream during exposure to air at increased pressure. Underwater welding safety measures include emergency air or gas supply, stand-by divers, and decompression chambers to avoid decompression sickness following rapid surfacing after saturation diving.

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2008 Honda CRV - etrailer.com

www.etrailer.com Videos are provided as a guide only. Refer to manufacturer installation instructions and specs for complete information. Today we are going to be installing Valley hitch part number V82163 on a 2008 Honda CRV. Okay we are underneath the vehicle and we are looking at the driver side frame rail. Here towards the end of the frame you can see we have got one, two existing weld nuts here in the frame. Those are going to provide the two attaching points on the driver side of the vehicle. It may be necessary on some models to go ahead and clean these weld nuts out if they have built up road grime or rust in them. Over here on the passenger side, we are actually going to be using the same attaching points, the two weld nuts. As you can see we have got the exhaust here in the way so we are going to go ahead and need to lower that down off of its hangers. Remember when moving the exhaust off of it's hangers, it helps to spray the studs down with a spray lubricant like WD-40. It makes the removal of the rubber hanger off of the studs a lot easier. You want to do that in both locations. And then you can just take a pry bar or even a pair of pliers. Just come in behind it and pry the hanger right off. And we are going to do the same thing here on the outboard sided one. Just let that lower right down to where the exhaust tube will rest on the sway bar here. Next we are going to go ahead and clean out the weld nuts. To do that again we want to use a spray lubricant and ...

Bowflex - Maintenance Tips

Once you receive your Bowflex Ultimate® 2 home gym, it is important that you perform ongoing maintenance on your machine to keep it in top notch condition. Here are some safety tips and maintenance tips to consider.

Upon arrival, you'll want to thoroughly inspect the machine. The following guidelines are good ones to follow so your machine will perform properly.

When the Bowflex® home gym isn't in use, make sure to disconnect the cables from the Power Rod® units. Using the "rod binding strap" that is included with your machine, bind all the rods together. When connecting or disconnecting the Power Rod® units from the cables, make sure to stand off to the side and not directly above the rods for your own safety.

After each use of your Bowflex® system, clean it with a non-abrasive cleanser. Any non-abrasive household cleaner or soap will do fine. Cleaning the machine after each use will keep it looking new. One caution: do not use cleansers designed for automotive interiors, for they may cause surfaces to become too slippery.

Each Bowflex® 2 home gym has D-clips that are used to connect attachment cables to resistance. Prior to making attachment cable changes, remove any resistance on the Power Rod® cable. Physical strain during the cable changing process will be reduced dramatically.

To ensure safe operation of the aerobic rowing feature, ensure the locking pin for the sliding seat is completely disengaged from the rail. It usually takes about ¼ turn. Once the pin is locked into the free slide position, you'll hear a click confirming proper position.

For a safe workout area, all attachment cables should be stored when they aren't in use. The cables for the Lat Tower have a built-in storage slot in the upper Lat Tower area. Squat cables should be stored in a safe place as well. Storage of cables reduces the risk of possible injury and maintains cable form, which means they'll last longer.

The lat bar should be stored on the lat cross bar assembly before making resistance changes. If the lat bar is unsecured and resistance is removed, the lat bar could potentially drop to the floor and cause possible injury.

All pulleys and J bolts should be examined prior to using your new machine. Look specifically for grooves or thinning of parts greater than 1/16 inch deep. If you feel you need a replacement, call Bowflex® immediately for free replacements.

Likewise, check all handgrips and straps before using your machine. If any threads are loose, call the company and replace them before using your machine.

All of these simple maintenance and safety tips will ensure you will have an efficient and safe workout.

Current Trend in Commercial Bars

A commercial bar is a popular place to be in today. Other than a great spot to enjoy alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, bars are also an ideal place to socialize and get the latest buzz on a wide variety of topics.

Most cities worldwide have bars in existence. This commercial establishment has in fact become one of the top entertainment and tourist spots that any urban center can offer to its visitors. Some restaurants also have a bar area separate from the main dining space where the atmosphere is rather more formal compared to the commercial and sports bars which promote a more casual ambiance.

But what makes a bar a bar? Normally, a commercial bar or any bar for that matter features a high counter, taller than the usual table and with high stools or chairs as well on the exterior part. Bars can be of any shape - a long straight one, a square or rectangular type or a semi circular one. The designs and styles today are endless and have become more advanced as well.

Typically, bars are made from wood. But while many commercial areas still use the material, others have gone modern in style and design using other materials such as metal especially stainless steel or a combination of wood and another material.

Today, a distinct fixture attached to most bars that many of you have surely seen are the foot rails. These foot rails are the long tubing installed at the lower part of the bar structure to provide a resting place for the feet. This fixture surrounds the entire bar area so that people sitting and standing around it can have something to place their feet on. It's an added functionality to the bar plus a comfort fixture for the feet.

Foot rails come in various materials and shapes as well. There's the classic wood and the modern metals ranging from the stainless steel to the brass tubing. These foot rails are the long poles or tubing you see attached to the lower part of the bar with brackets in between to provide support. The tubing nowadays also come in the circular and square shapes with even decorative brackets and end caps.

If you opt for the metal foot rail, a great design tip is to complement it with metal stools or those that use metal stands although the seat area may be made from a different material. Depending on your preference, the bar stools or chairs can be padded or not in the seating portion. They can also be the permanent type or the swivel and adjustable stools with or without the back rest.

Another option is to choose between the metal stool with just one stand and those with four stands. With swivel stools, people sitting at the bar area can turn to whatever direction they like without having to stand up and adjust the position of their stool.

Normally, these high stools have a foot rest area in the lower portion. However, it is still a good idea to install foot rails on the bar area for added comfort to guests who frequent the commercial establishment.

The Life of Aluminum - A Great Advantage

Aluminum Railings - The lightweight solutions

Aluminum stand as one of the noblest material achieved by the metallurgic industry. The aluminum, symbolized as AL, is the most abundant metallic element in the earth. The Danish chemist Hans Christian Rested isolated aluminum for the first time in 1825, through a chemical process using a mixture of potassium chloride and aluminium.Aluminum is a metallic element that is derived from bauxite. Aluminum is one of the nearly 100 basic elements that make up the physical universe. The bauxite is extracted by various methods and then grinds into very small particles before refining to recover alumina from which aluminum is made.Once that occurs aluminum can be given forms required by manufacturers to turn into finished products. The industries that require aluminum can specify a range of alloys and can be provided in the form of ingots, of varying sizes, pipe, bar, plate and sheet

The lightweight solutions.

Due to its light weight aluminum can used to make deck railing without losing its resistance, superior to iron, and still gives you a decorative piece, remaining strong and flexible.

The Life of Aluminum: A Great Advantage

The ways that increase the life of aluminum are the following:

Anodizing of aluminum, increase aluminum corrosion resistance and prevents further oxidation .

Strengthen Aluminum with wooden inserts. The pieces made out aluminum allowed wooden inserts to strengthen its resistance and keeps the metal in the original shape, thus lighter pieces can be used for the same work with the plus of reducing the weight of structure.

Powder coating paints and aluminum: New painting techniques can be used over aluminum and Powder coating paints aids to the visual appeal of the aluminum railings.

Use PVC coating: Aluminum can be coated PVC by various methods. PVC coating helps to increase the life of aluminum.

Ease of installation

Installation has not presented a problem in the last years with the new features and designs offered by manufacturers, there are many solution in use of aluminum in railings nowadays. Erection process is improved by the use of the bottom posts in which the aluminum verticals that can be grounded, that kind of solution is very appreciated by the DIY enthusiast who saves time in building and installing, these posts are generally made out of PVC, CPVC or other manmade materials.

Aluminum alloys,so convenient for the building industry, also find increased use in the manufacture of railings and the alloying with other metals enables aluminum to increase further the already strength to weight ratio and corrosion resistance of the material.

Other advantages

Low maintenance is an additional virtue of the Aluminum.

Optimal thermal and acoustic insulation.

Flexible design and aesthetic look.

Excellent strength / weight ratio

Long lasting life

You can see that aluminum is highly recommendable for modern houses and designs,it can combined with glass and create very modern and original design,if you are interested on this kind of combination, think about the colorful experiments you can do with this mix. Imagination is the limit for aluminum uses, you can take these advantage for your deck railing plans and make your home an unique place that many people may admire.

Do It Yourself Fencing Repair - Replacing Posts in Fence Made Easy

Do it yourself fencing repair can be a challenge for the inexperienced but it doesn't have to be. Knowing times are tough and as a thirty year veteran I will try to make fencing repair, changing rotted fencing posts and replacing panels in your fence doable for those who like to do it yourself and save money. I will address:

* Do it Yourself Fencing Repair
* Replacing rotted Fence Post
* Cedar fence Fence Post
* Treated Wood Post
* Galvanized Metal Fence post
* Changing a Wood Fence Picket
* Adding or Changing Fence Rail

There are as many How to Wood Fence and Fencing Repair as there are nails in fence pickets. The way that I describe here has worked for me here in the Dallas Texas metro area for many years.

Do it yourself fencing repair: Is easy if you go about it the right way but is very hard if you go about it the wrong way and can get very frustrating and costly.

Replacing Rotted Fence Post: Replacing posts in a Fence is one of the hardest things about fencing repair. I have seen DIYer's try everything to get broken fence post out of the ground. One of my favorites is what I call the Grand Canyon. This is when a DIY will dig a hole so big around the fence post that they almost need a cement truck to bring in enough concrete to fill it. Have you ever dug a hole for a fence post? If so use the concept of digging a 8 inch diameter hole for a fence post against the concrete of the old fence post about 2-2 1/2 feet deep. Then take a sharp shooter shovel to clear a little dirt from each side of the concrete. Use post hole digger to remove the little bit of dirt that you loosened from the post hole. You now have a hole that is deep enough that with a little effort you can use a rock bar to lever the broken post and concrete into the hole you just dug so that it will be easy to lift out.

Put the new pole in the hole, take the old hard concrete and use as filler in the hole and put as much premixed wet concrete in the hole as needed to fill to the ground level then plumb the pole with a level. You can then wait 24 hours for the concrete to harden around the new fence post the nail the fence panels to it or you can go ahead nail the old or new fence panels to it, re-level the post and then use an old fence board to support it.

If you would like the easier way out then you can install a new fence post in next to the existing so that you do not have to dig the wood post out.

Cedar Fence Post: Cedar is naturally highly resistant to rot, decay, warping and bugs when used above ground. If it is saturated with moisture when installed in the hole with concrete around it and dries out, it will shrink leaving a void that will take on water. This creates a premature rotting process. This can also happen at the ground level if the concrete is not poured to a level that will help repel the water away from the fence post. You can use a good weather treatment to soak the post end prior to installing to extend the like of a cedar fence post. I have used Behr and Olympic with good success.

Treated Wood Post: Pressure treated wood post have a chemical that is resistant to rot and bugs. The tag on the end of the post at most retail chains like (Home Depot or Lowes) will tell you if it is good for ground contact. I have seen a lot of Landscape timbers used for posts in a fence. These usually do not have the proper treatment that will give it the rot protection so unless someone is on a very tight budget I will not recommend this type of wood post for fencing. Pressure treated pine fence post can warp or check from drying and shrinking (looks like a split). To minimize warping and twisting make sure that you attach the fence panels with the correct screws or nails. They need to be long enough to penetrate through the rail and the post by 2 1/2 - 3 inches. Also make sure that it is a Hot Dipped Galvanized screw or nail so that the chemicals in the wood do not deteriorate them.

I have seen that pressure treated wood post will last several years but can dry rot at the ground level but you can also minimize this by soaking the part that will come in contact with the ground in a good weather sealant.

Galvanized Metal Fence Post: Galvanized Metal Fence Post are my choice to use for fencing a backyard or changing out a rotted fence post. When they are installed correctly they can last a lifetime. Diameter of the hole they are to be cemented in to should be 8 - 10 inches and the depth should be a minimum of 30 inches and up to 48 inches. The type of soil and ground condition as well as the freeze line for your area will dictate this. They will cost a little more but in my opinion are worth the difference. Make sure that you get a heavy gauge like a.095 and put a dome cap on it so that it doesn't act like a rain gauge. The appearance is not as natural as wood fence post but this can be easily by boxing it with a fence board or two.

Changing a Wood Fence Picket: Changing a Fence Picket is almost self explanatory. In the Dallas Texas metro the choices of fence pickets are starting with the best then to the last are Cedar (3-4 different grades), Composite ( recycled materials like Trex, Correct Deck ), Pressure Treated Yellow Pine and Spruce - Fir - and White Pine ( These are all in the white wood category). The white woods typically have a longevity of 7 - 10 years unless a good weather sealant is applied.

Once again make sure that your screws or nails are of the proper length and either hot dipped galvanized or aluminum.

You can attach a fence board to the top of the pickets or a nylon string to use to keep the top straight as you fasten them to the rails.

Adding or Changing Fence Rail: I have had the most success changing a fence rail by leaving the fence panel attached to the post. Use a sawzall with a metal cutting blade. Slip the blade in between the rail and the post so you can cut the nails or the screws. Use a Wonder Bar and a hammer so that you can wedge it between the rail and the fence board. Pry the fence board away from the fence rail. Follow the same procedure with all the fence boards. Take the fence rail out. Cut the new one to the same length. Drive the nails through the fence picket leaving the nail in. Insert the rail. Hammer to nails back into the fence rail. You then can use 3 1/2 inch hot dipped galvanized nail to hammer through the rail into the fence post.

John Deere Pallet Fork Aftermarket Attachments Available

There are many attachments available, one of which being the pallet fork attachments. They can quickly transform your regular tractor into a forklift truck, at little cost.

Across the globe, John Deere had a reputation for excellence within its field of construction and engineering. They have mastered how to design and build quality heavy duty machinery, for use within a wide range of applications. They also build smaller equipment for use within the home or smaller construction sites, which are less well known but still popular.

The pallet forks which are designed for the John Deere tractors are made in a variety of sizes. The basic principle in their design is the same, bar one feature. Some of the forks tilt and others are still, depending on the model of tractor which they are going onto. Many even have a special click functionality so the tractor can be driven into the attachment and they will attach themselves securely. This makes them safer and rules out the requirement for an additional person to help with it.

The forks on forklifts, also known as rails are held together by a strong base, usually made of steel. The rails themselves of course come in many sizes and widths depending on their requirements. For heavier loads, rails as wide as 40 inches can be used and these go down to as small as 8 inches in width. Do not be fooled by the smaller ones as even those can carry a tonne of bricks at a time quite easily. With this comes 8 different increments in size so can be manufactured to fit almost any sized John Deere tractor.

Five Reasons to Use Oil-Based Paints for Home Projects

Learning to paint in your home can be an easy project and provide a quick way to beautify your home. When painting, there are two basic types of paints that can be used inside the home. Water based latex paints are good for using on the walls. Oil based paints are the other choice. Oil based paints are the best choice for painting trims, doors and areas of high traffic.

Oil based paints are sometimes a little more difficult to use that water based latex paint. Oil based paints are thicker than latex paint so it will require different kinds of brushes and rollers. Also, when using oil based paints, it is a good idea to paint in a well ventilated area. It does have a stronger odor. The good thing about oil based paint is that it can be bought at any paint store and tinted to almost any color. Oil based paints are also called solvents and made from a mixture of resin and oils.

When looking at oil based paints, it is important to remember that most of the time you will need to prime the area first. Oil based paints have a tendency to peel if the area is not primed properly. This can happen if the base coat is already oil based paint. When priming the area, you must clean the area first. Then you can apply a primer. Primer can be bought at any home improvement or paint store. Primer can be applied like spray paint or brushed on with a brush. If you are painting over a very dark color, or using a dark color with the new paint, you should consider having the primer tinted first.

If you get ready to paint and are not sure whether you are dealing with a wall or area that already has oil paint or latex, there is an easy way to tell. When water is applied to oil based paint, it will usually "bead up". It will not soak in as it does with latex paint. When applying oil based paints, it has the tendency to bubble during painting. Make sure that you never shake oil based paints. Stirring is recommended. Also when using oil based paint, try using only one coat of paint, instead of several. After applying the oil based paints to your project, it will take longer to dry than latex paint. Provide plenty of ventilation during the drying process.

It is also important to remember that when using oil based paints, that they are considered toxic and hazardous waste. Caution should be used when disposing of oil based paints.

There are several projects that will benefit from using oil based paint.

Trim: When painting indoor trim, such as bead board, window trim, crown molding, chair rails and trim around doors, oil based paints are generally used. This is because oil based paints can withstand more wear and tear than latex paints. As a general rule, oil based paints are also easier to clean than latex paint.

Doors: Indoor doors are usually painted with oil based paints. It is very simple to clean fingerprints, smudges and dirt off of doors when painted with oil based paint. An outside door is often painted using oil based paints, as well.

Decorating projects: If you are working in small projects, such as painting shelves or raw wood, oil based paints can be a good option. Proper preparation is required. Raw wood will need to be sanded and primed before using oil based paints. Remember that primer should be dried thoroughly before using any oil based paints. This will give you better coverage.

Exterior: Some projects outside can be good for using oil based paints. Oil based paints are perfect for trims, such as around windows, and other trim around the outside of the house.

Metal: Projects that are made out of metal can also benefit from oil based paints. It is important to remember that oil based paints should never be applied directly to fresh masonry or on iron. As with any projects, proper prepping and primer will be required.

Oil based paints can be a good choice for many projects because it is often longer lasting and easy to clean. Proper preparation is always needed when painting with oil paints.

Pool Table Review

This pool table review is to help you when choosing a new table. I have written many articles about billiards tables. You can check them all out from the links in my blog.

I have owned several pool tables in the 25 plus years that I have been playing the game. The first table that I played on was a 4 x 8 table and it was given to my dad by someone that he worked with. I was about 10 years old at the time.

When I reached the age of 15, I would sneak off to the tavern down the road and play on their bar box. This was one of those old style bar tables with the big cue ball. (I still do not like playing with the big cue ball very much)

I moved out of my parents house at age 18 and my cousin and I purchased a 4 x 8 Brunswick table for the house that we moved in to. This table was played heavily and we went through a couple of rounds of new felt in a short period of time.

The felt or cloth is actually one of the most important things about a table because it will be a major factor as to if the table plays fast or slow. (I do not recommend a cloth with a backing. It slows the ball down big time) My favorite billiards cloth is Simonis 860.

When I turned 21 A friend an I set up a little pool hall in a building that my family owned. We purchased two 4 and 1/2 by 9 tables. One was a Circle G Gandy and the other was a Murray. Both tables played good and the Murray played extremely fast off the rails. We also purchased four 3 and 1/2 by 7 Valley bar tables.

I currently have one of the 7 foot Valley tables in my house now. I chose to keep that one because most league play and at that time the BCA National Tournament in Las Vegas were all played on a 7 Valley pool table.

The BCA and APA have now switched to the Diamond Smart Tables. These play nice and the tavern that sponsors my team has 6 of them. (Diamond Jimfs) These are the only Diamond tables in Pueblo Colorado at the time of this writing. The Diamond Table is definitely one of my favorite to play on and I am keeping my eyes peeled for my house.

I would have to say that out of all the tables that I have played in the past, my favorite would be a 9 Brunswick Gold Crown with tight pockets and Simonis 860 cloth. You have to be in stroke pretty good to run a rack on one of these tables.

There are several pool table articles on my pool-billiards-game dot com website. There is even a page which shows what size of a room is necessary for comfortable play on various sized billiard tables. I hope this article gives you some things to consider when choosing your table.

To Your Run Out Success,

Ted

Things You Should Know About an Electric Shower

Are you planning to buy an electric shower, but do not know what features you need? For this reason, this article will help know the basics and features of different models of electric showers.

Electric shower is a water heater whose main principle is to apply pressure on the water. Cold water flows to the unit where it is pressurized and heated through electricity. The amount of water dispensed depends on the water pressure applied. This way electric showers are economical since you only get water as much as what is needed or consumed. This type of shower does not required hot water system as the source. It is called as instantaneous water heater because you will get hot water whenever you want it.

Pumped power shower is a type of electric shower. Such showers are connected to both hot and cold water supply i.e. mixer showers and uses electric pump to increase pressure coming out from the shower head. It uses lesser electricity than electrically heated showers.

Features of Electric Shower

Riser Rail: The riser rail is the vertical metal bar attached to the wall allowing variable height and flexibility for the shower head.

Shower head: Is the handheld spray that is attached to the riser rail. Shower head has different patterns of spray. When all the holes are opened, water sprayed is weaker than using one or two combinations of opened holes. However, using only inner holes provide high powered spray.

Power ratings: It usually varies from 8.5 to 10.8 Kilowatt. Electric showers are made with high power ratings. They produce high powered spray while supplied with lower water temperature.

Wireless showers: Is newer design of electric showers whose physical shower unit is hidden and a remote control is used to communicate with the box to control the water temperature. Wireless shower installation does not require plumbing thereby maintaining the look of the bathroom which is the main advantage of using this type of shower.

Some showers have variable power out put so that you can choose features according to range and adjust power out put.

Additional features of showers include the thermostatic models that help control the temperature so that showers will not be affected by other appliances like washing machine. Push button control to maintain shower settings each time it is used. Memory function, built-in to most expensive showers available in the market, is designed to allow showers to store information of the pre-set shower temperature. Shut down button flushes out the remaining hot water from shower head before it turns off to prevent from scalding. LCD is a small display that shows the temperature of water being heated. This allows users to control the water temperature.

Electrical shower can only be installed properly by a person who is well equipped with the right knowledge of the task or a professional. The cost of the installation depends upon the electrician and the design. If the model has a separate top, bottom and sides then it is easier to install as it gives flexibility while rooting cables and pipes.

Shower installation requires plumbing from cold water supply and connection to electricity. Electrical cable and fuse size vary on the power rate of the shower. For safety, it is necessary to use double pole switch with an indicator for turning the shower on and off.

With electrical showers, it is easier to regulate warm and cold water output according to a person's need. Shower temperatures can also be adjusted to counter the temperature of the season for perfect refreshment.

Amazing Skateboarding Records

Skateboarding is an amazing sport, and one that not all of use are able to do. Even those that have been skating for quite some time may find it hard to do complicated moves. Therefore it is important to give some recognition for those amazing skateboarding records out there. While other people will continue to strive to beat them, the bar has been set quite high.

Rob Thomson took 2 1/2 years to skateboard and it took him 850 days. He holds the record for the longest journey taken on a skateboard. This is approximately 7,500 miles that he covered along this incredible journey. He completely worn out three pairs of shoes, plenty of skating wheels, and two decks by the time he was finished as well.

Ted McDonald wanted to get a record for his skateboarding trip too, but he didn't have the same amount of time to put in. He skated though for 24 hours and completed 242 miles barefoot. At least he didn't go through multiple pairs of shoes like Thomson did right?

There are a couple of individuals out there that also hold multiple records. Danny Way has a few of them that are definitely worth mentioning here. First, he successfully accomplished jumping the Great Wall of China, a feat that no one had done before on just a skateboard. Second, he holds the record for the longest jump ever, and at 79 feet it is going to be very hard for someone to take over this title.

Rob Dyrdek holds more than 20 skateboarding records according to the Guinness Book of World Records. Most of them he was able to accomplish in 2007 when the Guinness Book of World Records held such a competition. Some of the events he is the top dog for include the longest 50/50 rail grind at a distance of 100 feet, 215 ollies in a row without stopping, and the highest skateboarding jump into water using a ramp which he set with 10 feet and 8 inches.

The highest ollie recorded and verified is at 44 ½ inches by Danny Wainwright. There have been videos out there circulating of other people doing ollies that could be up to 50 inches. However, they haven't been verified and so they don't get the credit some feel they deserve.

For more than a decade Gary Hardwick has been able to maintain the record he set for the fastest speed. He reached 63 miles per hour in 1998 while racing in Arizona. There is a separate record for doing the same thing with a jet pack on. This goes to Billy Copeland and he was able to reach a speed of 70 miles per hour this way.

Perhaps the one really well known record out there is by Tony Hawk. He made history in 1999 at the X Games performing what he referred to as the 900. Basically this is a complete 300 rotation three times in a row. That is an extremely difficult trick to accomplish. There are still only a handful of professionals out there that have mastered it well enough to use it in their performances.

It is important to note that all of the amazing skateboarding records out there have been verified. Other people claim that they have done better in certain tasks, but their information wasn't able to be verified. Therefore the current records will stand as they are. If you think you have what it takes to break a given skateboarding record, make sure you find out the right procedures for having your efforts recorded. That way you too can get yourself the recognition you deserve for this sport.

Nutnfancy at SHOT Show: KEL-TEC

KelTec does not ride on past accomplishments. They are always looking to what the market wants and coming up with innovative designs to fufill those needs. Case in point: the new .22 WMR semi-auto "PMR-30" pistol by KelTec is mind blowing. With an empty weight of just 13.6 oz, fiber optic sights, mini-red dot base provision, and a whopping 30 round magazine capacity (!) I predict it will be a runaway best seller at predicted street price of about $375 (2nd qtr 2010 avail, good luck!). In many ways this PMR-30 is an affordable alternative to the FN FiveSeven pistol and its eclectic and expensive 5.7x28mm ammo. It's 1230 fps muzzle velocity comes close to duplicating that load for a lot less money and widespread availability. Then there's the "RFB" is a semi-auto .308 Winchester (7.62x51mm) rifle accepting metric FN FAL magazines. It's a short bullpup design as shown to us by KelTec technician Matt Groom. It has several unique feature including out-the-front ejection of spent casings (which I don't super dig), reversible charging handle (big plus), chrome lined bore and chamber, short-stroke piston system that's adjustable, picatinny rail, and an overall 27" length. With its 18' it weighs 8.6 lbs which is on par with other 2010 .308 carbines but its bullpup configuration owns them in terms of compactness. KelTec says the RFB possesses a good trigger as well (unconfirmed). Also reviewed in this KelTec booth review by Nutnfancy is the KelTec folding D2 steel bayonet (maybe a ...

Removing Your Old Sliding Glass Door

Last week I explained how to measure your existing sliding glass door so you can order the vinyl replacement door. This week I am going to go over the steps required to remove the old sliding door before installing the new door.

First, you have to remove the sliding panel and the stationary panel. The vast majority of doors out there have the sliding panel on the inside half of the track, and the stationary panel is on the outside. Whatever the case in your particular door, the outside panel has to come out first. To remove the fixed panel, you need to remove the sill cap that snaps into the bottom track and runs from the fixed panel to the side jamb where the sliding panel locks. Force a screwdriver into the crease and pry the cap up. Then, look for screws on the inside side jamb holding the fixed panel in place. These screws prevent someone from prying up the sill cap and pulling out the fixed panel in order to gain entry into the home. In addition to the side jamb, be sure to check across the top header and bottom track for screws there as well. Once all the screws have been removed, you need to pull the fixed panel away from the side jamb. You can start by simply grabbing the side rail of the fixed panel and pulling as hard as you can. If you're lucky, the panel will pop free. Then you can lift the panel up as far as it will go into the top channel and swing the bottom away from the track, and remove the panel.

Now, I said "if you're lucky", because in most cases the panel will be stuck in the side jamb, the bottom track, or both. Usually, you're going to have to use a pry bar to loosen the fixed panel before it will slide out of the side jamb. Once the fixed panel is out, removal of the sliding panel is usually easier. Just lift up and swing the bottom away from the track, then remove the panel. Sometimes the bottom rollers will prevent the bottom from swinging out of the track. If that's the case, you will need to find the roller adjustment hole in the bottom corners of the sliding panel. Put a screwdriver into this hole and turn the screw counterclockwise to bring the roller as far up into the bottom of the sliding panel as possible. This should allow the slider to come out.

Now, you want to remove all the screws from the side jambs, top header, and bottom track. Then, take a pry bar and get it under the bottom track about in the center. Pry up until the track is separated from the floor. The next step will depend on whether your old frame is nailed to the house frame, or simply screwed in. If it's screwed in, then the frame should now be loose in the opening, since you removed all of the screws. You just need to remove whatever inside trim there might be around the door frame. This type of frame should come out. If your door is nailed to the house frame, you will have to do a bit more work. Use a hacksaw to cut the track in half, approximately in the center. Start with either half and raise the cut piece up towards the side jamb until the the track piece separates from the side jamb. Do the same thing to the other half.

So, now you have to remove the side jambs. You want to do this without damaging the exterior material that surrounds the door frame. Take a heavy chisel and pound it into the crack between the frame and exterior material, whether it's stucco, siding, etc. Start at the bottom 6 inches first. What you are trying to do is pull the nail fin away from the nails holding it in place. So, once the chisel is pounded through the metal frame, pry away from the side wall. The heavier and longer the chisel, the more leverage you will have. You will hear the frame "pop" free of the nail. There will be several nails holding each jamb in place, so you want to start at the bottom and work your way to the top corner. Once you get the bottom third loose, many times you can grab the jamb with both hands and pull the rest of the nails free as you go up. When you get to the top corner, work the jamb free. Do both jambs, then do the top. Sometimes the top has no nails, or just one in the center, so it will come down pretty easily. Be sure to wear safety glasses and a dust mask when doing this job, especially when removing the top header.

At this point you are ready to install the new door. The installation procedure is slightly different, depending on whether you're installing a retrofit style frame or a replacement frame. We will discuss both procedures next week.

railgun project

These are the animations i made in GMax for the presentation of my railgun project, i figured i might as well show them off here. It starts with a representation of a magnetic field around a wire, a demonstration of the Lorentz effect, and how a railgun combines these to propel a projectile (the + and - minus are switched, sorry). The magnetic field is represented by a green arrow, the direction of current is blue, and force is red. The next animation shows how the rails are also forced apart by the Lorentz force. Next i explain how i built the railgun, the injector system, and the capacitor bank. after that i show some cool photos and videos of tests, as well as some results of the experiment (the green round thing is a simulation of the magnetic field around the rails). The last part shows images of the rails after more or less 10 shots, there is some rail erosion, but it is very limited because of the low voltage and it only affects the first few centimeters of the rails. I dont know for sure what the black stuff is, it could either be aluminium oxide from the plasma, of soot from the burnt plexiglass enclosure. Some more interesting results: -the length of the discharge is 0.0002 seconds -the average plasma exaust velocity is 1000 m/s -the projectile experiences an initial force of approximately 100N -the projectile weighs 40µg -this means that the projectile accelerates at 2500000m/s² -the song is called Buddha Bar by Faithless

Ideas on How to Enhance Your Kitchen Design With Beadboard Wainscoting

Beadboard wainscoting is often associated with older homes, especially since it's been around since the 1600s, and was originally used to protect walls from damage. It can be found in any room of a house, from bathrooms to hallways to kitchens, where it can cover all or part of the walls. It can be distressed, stained, painted, or even left in its natural wood tone. With so many options, beadboard is a great addition to your kitchen, whether you choose it as an accent or install it more liberally.

What is Beadboard Wainscoting?

Beadboard consists of tongue and groove strips of wood that are fitted together and nailed along the wall. The bead, or indentation, that runs between each board is what defines beadboard. This bead can be various widths, depending on the width of the boards themselves and the type of beadboard you purchase. Beadboard wainscoting generally goes partway up the wall, although beadboard can certainly be both vertically or horizontally over the entire wall, if desired. Traditionally, it is placed vertically with a decorative chair rail and molding along the top and bottom, framing the wainscoting along the wall.

Although real beadboard is tongue and groove and comes as separate boards, you can purchase sheets of beadboard at lumber yards or home improvement stores. They are available in primed and unprimed, pine, oak or a composite. It's best, for authenticity's sake, to choose a real wood product. If you plan to paint the beadboard, pine is the most cost-effective, and primed options will save you a step. The real wood also looks more realistic than the composite sheets.

Beadboard Wainscoting in the Kitchen: Where Should it Go?

There are several ways to enhance your kitchen. It can be a focal point or an accent, depending on your taste. For example, if you want it to be a focal point, you can choose to reface your kitchen cabinets with doors that feature a beadboard center. You can also make beadboard wainscoting you backsplash, both of which help draw attention and will define your kitchen's style.

For a more subtle approach, consider adding beadboard wainscoting to the outside of your kitchen island or put it along your walls, especially if you have a large, eat-in kitchen that will show-off your beadboard wainscoting addition. If you have a built-in seating, such as a banquette or bench seat, perhaps beneath a window, consider facing it with beadboard wainscoting for a cottage feel.

Finishing Options for Beadboard Wainscoting

Beadboard wainscoting does not have to be white, but can be painted to complement your existing kitchen color, perhaps a darker shade if you plan to put it on the wall or highlight seating. You could distress it for an aged, antique look or you might stain it, especially if you plan to use it on cabinet doors or along the outside of a kitchen island, although a painted finish will work well here as well. Of course, if you prefer its natural color, simply apply a clear varnish to it to preserve it and make it shine.

Walk in Tubs - Way to Comfortable Bathing

Walk-in tubs are designed in such a way that it fits perfectly into the existing bath-tub adding to more comfort and ease to one that uses it. This useful kit adds more to the pleasure of a relaxing bath to those with some physical disability. Some have a stainless steel frame with adjustable feet that are durable and easy to install too. Good quality ones are safe, durable and provide luxury and pleasure to the bathing process. Bath tubs can be replaced with superior walk-in tubs which just need to fill in water, get into it, enjoy and relax the bath. It is not only beneficial, but also adds a wonderful experience with complete satisfaction.

Walk-in tubs are available in various colors, sizes and has all the salient features. Irrespective of the physical disability, one can opt to choose these tubs as it provides all the necessary and safe means. These tubs has built-in doors where there is no need to worry about water leaking from the tub since they have a watertight seal mechanism that prevents any leakage.

The two doors - the inward swinging and the outdoor swinging door are designed in such a way that the inside door is kept shut from the pressure of the water inside it. Most of them that are available in the market have inward-swinging door as it less expensive and safer. One can choose from the various models that are available such as whirlpools, thermostats and many more to add.

These kind of tubs are generally taller and narrower that also suited for even smaller spaces. Elderly people have the option to have the bath while seated or use the seat as leverage. They also come with a transfer bar and side rails that is more ideal for those who wish to be independent. The hydrotherapy has an elegant feature that relieves backaches and leg pains.

In this type, the pressure of the water keeps the inward-swinging door tightly closed. The door does not open until the entire water is drained out. The most important thing that is to be considered while buying a walk-in tub is the material that it is made from.
